Is the MacBook Pro worth it?

In all honesty, you should just stick with a Windows machine. Yeah sure, people say Macs are better for music, video and photo editing but in my experience Windows does it just as effectively...trust me on that (I've done 3D modeling that simply isn't possible on the Mac since dual 4GB workstation graphics cards simply beat out the dual 1GB cards you can get in the Mac Pro and large-scale 3D simulations just don't work well on the Mac since there simply aren't enough system resources). There's nothing a Mac can do that Windows can't, so it's just a matter if you want to spend at least $1200 on a MacBook or half that amount on the equivalent Windows laptop. Macs may make certain tasks a bit easier but in the long run (and this is coming from my background in computer science and software development) Macs only make things harder to accomplish when you actually want to get something useful done due to the amount of restrictions Apple has on their "innovative" products.
