How can I convince my parents to let me stay at a friends instead of going on vacation?

Give them all the reasons you just stated here! It seems totally reasonable for you to go to your friends. Explain that you are concerned about your grades, and about the whole birthday thing. Make sure they know that you appreciate them for taking you to a theme park, but you know that they want you to have good grades and you dont want to disappoint them!
