How does a small EVAP leak or hose crack affect emissions?

Replace your gas cap. Really 90% of the time this code gets thrown it's the gas cap. Other than that the P0442 [small leak] will drive you absolutely nuts trying to find it. Find a garage that can "smoke" the vent system. Yea it costs a few bucks but it will preserve your sanity.
